About the Study Group
Lynx Sword Study Group practices and teaches medieval European martial arts based on the works of Fiore dei Liberi (unarmed, dagger, sword in two hands, and more). Opening its doors in 2007, the group offers instruction to those interested in exploring medieval systems of sword play.Location

Curriculum
- Tuesday and Wednesday night practice (grappling, dagger and sword in two hands), 7:30 to 9pm. Gardiner Hall, Oak Bay United Church.
The above schedule runs Fall-Spring. Summer practices are by arrangement.
Directors & instructors
Mark Shier, Instructor
Mark Shier has studied various eastern martial arts under Sifu Don Inrig. He fought for many years in medieval armoured re-enactor combat in the SCA. He began serious study of medieval martial arts, especially the Fiore system, in 1999. He has attended numerous seminars taught by Bob Charron of St. Martin's Academy of Medieval Arms (http://www.stmartinsacademy.com/). He has taken slso taken classes taught by Guy Windsor, Sean Hayes and Greg Mele.
