Definition
A system of combat employing unarmed techniques, weapons, or both.
There is a great diversity and abundance of martial arts but, broadly speaking, martial arts share a common goal: to defeat a person physically or to defend oneself from physical threat.[1]
Collections of technique employed in a sporting context such as modern fencing do no qualify as martial arts for the purposes of WMAWiki.
